Want to be a mentor?
Mentors commit to pair up with a pledge for the duration of the program and will check in with their pledges via phone, email, etc. on a weekly basis. Mentors must already be vegan and will be able to provide answers and resources to pledges. Sign up here!
The PAN Vegan Pledge program guides people through 30 days of being vegan with the program’s hands-on support. This support includes five weekly meetings consisting of cooking demonstrations, speakers addressing environmental, ethical, health, and practical issues, a personal mentor (experienced vegan), optional social events for even more support, and an incredible care package to make 30 days of being vegan that much easier. The program is FREE!
We do require a pre-pledge phone chat before the program starts, and pledges agree to consume only vegan items for the full 30 days.
For the first week, meetings included a presentation on vegan nutrition basics and meal planning, and pledges worked one-on-one with their mentors to figure out what they would eat for the first week.
During the second week, there was a panel discussing vegan living in a nonvegan world as wells as talks by Shanti Uretta and Vance Lehmkuhl.
Getting more hands on, the third week consisted of an in-depth cooking class at Cooking Spotlight covering everything from the basics of grains and beans to fancier items like vegan sushi and fresh spring rolls to dessert.
For practical purposes, week four was of a tour of Giant Markets, a well-stocked supermarket with loads of vegan items, and a presentation about traveling and dining out while vegan.
Lastly, the fifth week finished up with presentations about Environmental issues, more ethical issues, and information about vegan personal care items.
