FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Peace Advocacy Network Issues Letter to Villanova University PHILADELPHIA, PA, FEBRUARY 22, 2012 - Philadelphia-based Peace Advocacy Network (PAN) issues a letter to Villanova University in reference to the University's discriminatory cancellation of performance artist Tim Miller's diversity workshop. The cancellation seems to have occurred because of Tim Miller's sexual orientation. PAN's letter raises questions about Villanova's commitment to its own proclaimed values and mission, in particular their proclaimed desire to support individual differences and to welcome "people from all faiths, cultures and traditions to contribute their gifts and talents." Villanova's decision is offensive to the LGBT community and anyone committed to equality. Bigotry and bullying currently drive members of this community to commit suicide, and now, Villanova has thrown its hat into the ring of hatred. PAN is encouraging others to write to Villanova to express disappointment and to encourage Villanova to reassess the situation with Tim Miller. A fact sheet about LGBT issues as well as PAN's letter to Villanova can be found on PAN's website: www.peaceadvocacynetwork.org.
